So how do you think these concepts - placing dollar values on various benefits human civilizations get from the earth systems around us - can help us move forward with good forest planning?

Contrarily, is there any risk in framing humans and ecosystems as two different entities, with one "serving" the other, as opposed to humans being a part of the ecosystem?  What are the dangers of placing dollar values onto functions of the natural world around us?
